Quiet Harbor Books began with a simple idea:
Some of the best things we do don’t need to be rushed.
Taking time to color a page.
Writing down a thought before it’s forgotten.
Remembering something good about an ordinary day.
Filling a blank journal with ideas that belong to no one else.
These aren’t big events. They probably won’t appear on a calendar or a list of accomplishments.
But they can make an ordinary day a little richer.
That’s the kind of space I want Quiet Harbor Books to create.
Books You Participate In
There are books we read from beginning to end.
Then there are books that ask something of us.
Choose a color.
Answer a question.
Remember something.
Write down an idea.
Make a page your own.
I’ve become especially interested in creating that second kind of book—books that aren’t quite finished when you buy them.
You bring the final piece.
A Place to Create
Coloring is one example.
With a coloring book, the illustration gives you a place to begin, but what happens next is completely individual.
Two people can start with exactly the same drawing and create two entirely different pages.
That’s part of the idea behind Quiet Café Escapes. The cafés and peaceful settings provide the starting point. The colors, mood, and finished page belong to the person coloring them.
You don’t need to be an artist.
You simply need to enjoy creating.
A Place to Reflect
Other books invite us to look inward instead.
The Everyday Moments guided journals grew from the idea that there is value in paying attention to the life happening around us.
Not only the milestones.
The ordinary days, too.
A prompt can sometimes help us stop long enough to notice something we might otherwise have passed by—a memory, a feeling, something we’re grateful for, something we’ve learned, or simply something worth remembering.
You don’t have to write pages and pages.
Sometimes a few thoughtful sentences are enough.
A Place to Make Your Own
Sometimes prompts aren’t what we need at all.
We just need space.
That’s the idea behind the Make It Yours journals.
A blank journal can become a planner, a collection of memories, a place for prayers, a sketchbook, a book of lists, a travel companion, a home for ideas—or several of those things at once.
There’s something freeing about opening a book that doesn’t tell you what belongs on the next page.
You get to decide.
Why “Quiet Harbor”?
A harbor is a place to come in from open water.
A place to slow down, settle for a while, and prepare for whatever comes next.
That image captures much of what I want these books to offer.
Not an escape from life, but a small place within it where there is room to create, think, remember, or simply enjoy doing something at your own pace.
That’s the Quiet.
And that’s the Harbor.
More Than One Kind of Book
Quiet Harbor Books isn’t intended to be only a coloring-book company, a journal company, or any other single category.
The books may take different forms.
Some will be creative.
Some will be reflective.
Some will provide guidance.
Others may give you little more than a beautiful cover and blank pages.
What connects them is the experience I hope they create.
A reason to pause.
An invitation to create.
A place to remember.
And something that becomes a little more meaningful because you helped make it.
That’s what I hope you’ll find at Quiet Harbor Books.
And we’re only getting started.
